Golo is a safety-first dating and chat app for gay men in India. No profile photos, others see only an approximate distance, photos sent in a chat open once and are then deleted, and every message clears itself after 30 days.
Polo starts from a similar place. It is a gay-first Indian app that keeps pictures off the profile as well, sharing them privately instead through albums you open up to chats you trust.
So the two agree on the hardest part. Where they part company is what happens next: on Golo a photo gets a single look before we delete it from our servers, and your conversations empty themselves after 30 days whether you remember them or not.
If you want an album you can keep and re-share, Polo does that and Golo deliberately does not. If you would rather nothing lingered at all, Golo is the one built for you.
Golo is safety-first by design
Every one of these is on in Golo from the moment you sign up — nothing to find in settings, nothing to pay for.
No profile photo, and no album either
There is no profile picture in Golo, and no album that builds up over time. Nothing of your face sits on our servers waiting to be found, screenshotted or re-shared.
A mobile number is all you hand over

On a shared or borrowed phone, an unlocked screen is still not enough to open Golo.
18+ only, and moderated
Date of birth is required at sign-up and locked afterwards. Names and bios are screened automatically, blocking and reporting are two taps, and reports of suspected minors are escalated immediately.
Delete everything, instantly
Account deletion lives in the app. Your profile, chats, likes, blocks and reports go at once, and we keep no copy.
Nobody can screenshot you
Golo blocks screen capture and screen recording across the whole app, so a screenshot of your profile or your chat comes out blank.

What Polo is
Polo is an Indian gay dating app. It shows you men nearby and you message them directly, rather than swiping through a deck.
Like Golo, it keeps pictures off the public profile. Photos live in private albums instead, which you open up to the people you have started to trust.
Around that it offers filters for age, distance and who is online, an incognito mode, and voice and video calls. Its own site says new profiles are screened and repeat offenders are banned. It is free to install, with a paid Premium tier.
What Polo does well
- Private albums you keep. If you want to build up a set of photos and share it with more than one person over time, Polo does that and Golo does not.
- An established user base across Indian cities, so there is usually someone to talk to.
- Incognito browsing, for looking around before you are seen looking.
- A screening process for new profiles, which Polo says it backs with lifetime bans for repeat offenders.
Which one should you install?
There is no single winner here. There is a version of you that each app is right for.
Choose Golo if…
- You want to meet men near you anywhere in India — the metros or a smaller town.
- You want a privacy-first app, not a general one with privacy bolted on afterwards.

Is Golo the same app as Polo?
No. They are separate apps from separate companies, and Golo is not connected to Polo in any way. They do share an idea — neither shows a photo on your profile — but they handle what you share in a chat very differently.
Can I see anyone’s photo on Golo?
Not on a profile — Golo has no profile pictures, and no albums. Inside a chat a person can send you a photo, and it can be opened one time before we delete it from our servers.
How does Golo stop fake profiles?
Sign-up needs a working mobile number and an OTP, so one number is one account. Display names and bios are checked automatically, and you can block or report anyone in two taps. There is also far less for a scammer to gain: no photos to farm and no payments in the app.
Is Golo free?

Does Golo work outside the big cities?
Yes. You can widen the distance filter up to 500 km, and results come back with people who are online first, then the closest to you.
What does my Golo profile actually show?
A display name, your age, your position, whether you have a place to meet, a short bio, and an approximate distance. Your age comes from the date of birth you enter at sign-up and cannot be edited later.
