Terms of Service

These Terms of Service (“Terms”) govern your use of Golo (the “Platform”), a dating and chat application for adults. By creating an account or using the app, you agree to these Terms and to our Privacy Policy and Community Guidelines, which form part of these Terms. If you do not agree, do not use Golo.

Golo is operated from India. These Terms are governed by Indian law, including the Information Technology Act, 2000 and the rules made under it. We do not represent that the Platform complies with the laws of any country other than India; if you use it elsewhere, you are responsible for complying with your local laws.

1. Eligibility

You must be at least 18 years old to use Golo. By using the app you represent that you are 18 or older and legally able to enter into these Terms. We verify your date of birth at sign-up and suspend accounts that fail the age check. Misrepresenting your age is a serious violation and may result in immediate removal.

2. Your account

You sign in with your mobile number and a one-time password (OTP) sent by SMS — there is no password to remember. You are responsible for the security of the phone number and device linked to your account, for all activity under your account, and for providing accurate information. Do not let others use your number to access Golo, and do not maintain multiple accounts to evade enforcement. You may delete your account at any time from Settings.

3. Acceptable use

You agree not to:

  • Use Golo if you are under 18, or help anyone under 18 access it.
  • Harass, threaten, bully, defame, “dox”, or impersonate other people.
  • Post or share content that is unlawful, hateful, obscene, or that sexually exploits or endangers minors — strictly prohibited (see Child Safety).
  • Spam, scam, solicit, advertise, or run commercial or fundraising schemes.
  • Share another person’s private information, or reveal anyone’s sexual orientation (“out” them), without consent.
  • Probe, scan, scrape, overload, reverse-engineer, or otherwise attempt to break or abuse the service or its security.
  • Use the Platform for any illegal purpose or to facilitate one.

Our Community Guidelines describe these rules in more detail and are part of these Terms.

4. Your content

You own the content you create — your display name, bio, and messages. To operate the service, you grant us a limited, non-exclusive, royalty-free, worldwide license to host, store, transmit, and display that content to the users you communicate with. You are solely responsible for what you post, and content that violates these Terms may be moderated or removed.

5. Calls & communications

Voice and video calls connect directly between devices and are not recorded or stored by us. Text messages are delivered and stored so your conversation history works. We do not monitor private conversations as a general practice, but we may review content in connection with a report, a safety concern, or a legal requirement, as described in our Privacy Policy.

6. Safety tools & moderation

Golo provides blocking and reporting tools. We may screen display names and bios, review reported content, and suspend or terminate accounts that violate these Terms — including immediate action against accounts we believe belong to minors or pose a risk to the community.

7. Intermediary status

Golo acts as an intermediary under the Information Technology Act, 2000 and the Information Technology (Intermediary Guidelines and Digital Media Ethics Code) Rules, 2021. These Terms, together with our Privacy Policy and Community Guidelines, are published in accordance with those rules. Our role is limited to providing the Platform; we do not control and are not responsible for what users say or do, and we expect all users to comply with these Terms.

8. Service availability & updates

Golo is provided free of charge. The Platform is evolving — we may add, change, or remove features, and from time to time you may need to install the latest version of the app to keep using it. We may suspend or stop offering the service or any feature, in whole or in part, at our discretion.

9. Termination

You can stop using Golo and delete your account at any time. We may suspend or terminate accounts that violate these Terms or that we believe pose a risk to the community, and where appropriate we may report serious violations to the relevant authorities.

10. Disclaimers

Golo is provided on an “as is” and “as available” basis without warranties of any kind. We do not guarantee that other users or interactions are safe, that profiles are genuine, or that the service will be uninterrupted, secure, or error-free. Always meet new people safely and use your own judgment. You are solely responsible for your interactions with other users.

11. Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, Golo and its operators will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, punitive, or consequential damages, or for the conduct of other users, arising out of or related to your use of the Platform.

12. Indemnification

You agree to indemnify and hold harmless Golo and its operators from any claim, loss, liability, or expense (including reasonable legal fees) arising out of your use of the Platform, your content, your violation of these Terms, or your violation of any law or the rights of a third party.

13. Governing law & disputes

These Terms are governed by the laws of the Republic of India, and the courts of competent jurisdiction in India will have exclusive jurisdiction over any disputes, subject to applicable law.

14. Grievance redressal

For any complaint or concern relating to the Platform or these Terms, you may contact us at support@goloapp.co. We will endeavor to address grievances within the timelines prescribed under applicable Indian law.

15. Changes

We may update these Terms from time to time. Continued use of Golo after changes take effect means you accept the updated Terms.
