How Golo works
Three steps, and none of them ask for a photograph.
Sign in with your number
Enter your Indian mobile number and the 4-digit code we send by SMS. There is no email, no password and no Google or Facebook login. Then you give your date of birth once. Golo is only for adults, so if that date makes you under 18 it will not create an account, and the date cannot be changed later.
Step 1
Make your profile and browse
Fill in your profile in words, then open Browse. It shows the men near you, the most recently active first. In Filters you can sort by Nearby or Most liked, pick a state, or show only the men online now.

Open a profile
Tap a card to see his whole profile: his bio, how many likes he has and whether he is online now. There is a letter where a photo would be, so you get to know him by what he wrote.

Start talking
Send a message or a photo, or start a free voice or video call. You can reply to a message or react to it with an emoji.
What makes Golo different
What the app does, and what it leaves out on purpose.
No profile photo. Ever.
Golo has no profile picture field at all. Your profile shows the first letter of your name instead of a face, so there is no photo of you for anyone to save from a grid and share. People read you in your own words.
Nearby, not exact
Your profile shows a rough distance, such as ~1.2 km. Past 100 km it only says >100 km, and under 1 km it says <1 km. Your exact location goes to our servers to work out that distance, and it is never shown to other people.
You, in words
Your profile is a display name, your age, your position, whether you have a place to meet, and a short bio if you want one. No photos to rank you, and no feed to scroll.
Messages clear themselves
Every message is deleted once it is 30 days old, in a clean-up that runs every night. A chat photo opens once: the moment it is opened, nobody can open it again, and our servers delete it. The chat stays in your list; the old messages do not.
A lock in front of the app
Turn on App Lock in Settings, and Golo asks for a 4-digit PIN, or your fingerprint, before it opens. You choose how soon it locks after you leave: straight away, or after 30 seconds, 1 minute or 5 minutes.
Screenshots come out black
Golo blocks screenshots and screen recording on every screen of the app, so a capture of your profile or a chat comes out black.
Chat, voice and video
One-to-one messages, plus free voice and video calls between the two of you. Golo does not record your calls.
Free, with nothing to buy
No ads, no subscription and nothing to unlock. Every filter and every call is open to everyone.
Built to reduce what can leak
No app can promise that nothing ever goes wrong. On top of the photo, location and message rules above, these are the things Golo does so that less of you is out there. They all work from the moment you sign up.
- Block anyone from their profile or your chat, and you both stop seeing each other
- Report anyone the same way; reports are confidential, and our team reviews each one
- “User may be a minor” is its own reason in the report form
- Display names and bios are checked automatically before they are saved
- Your phone number is never shown on your profile
Likes you can see
Like a profile with one tap. Every profile shows how many likes it has, and the Likes tab lists the men who have liked yours. So when you like someone, he can see it was you. The newest likes come first.

Nine languages, all the way through
Not just the sign-up screen: every screen of the app, including Settings and the report form. You choose a language the first time you open Golo, and you can change it any time in Settings.
Every state, from the metros to small towns
Browse starts with men from every state, whether you live in a small town or in Mumbai, Delhi or Bengaluru. To narrow it down, pick your state in Filters: all 36 states and union territories are there. Distances are in kilometres.

Common questions
Is Golo available on iPhone?
Not yet. Golo is an Android app today, free on Google Play. An iPhone version is not available.
Does the language I pick change who I see?
No. The language changes the words on every screen, and nothing else. Who you see depends on where you are and on your filters.
Can I look for men in another city?
You can pick any state in Filters and message the men there. There is no city or area search, and distances are always measured from where you are, so you cannot put one city of that state first.
What happens to a photo nobody opens?
It stays in the chat, blurred, until it is opened once. If nobody opens it, it is deleted with the other messages 30 days after it was sent.
How do I delete my account?
In the app, go to Settings, then Manage account, then Delete account. Your profile disappears for everyone else straight away.
